Why we built it
Most of us search for a quick calculator or converter several times a week. Too often the result is a slow page buried in pop-ups, a tool that asks you to sign up before showing an answer, or a site that quietly uploads your file to a server you know nothing about. We wanted the opposite: a tidy corner of the web where every tool opens instantly, does one job well and respects your privacy.
How our tools work
Every tool on ToolNook runs locally in JavaScript. When you type numbers into a loan calculator, paste text into the word counter or drop a photo into the image compressor, the work happens on your own device. Nothing you enter is sent to or stored on our servers, which also means the tools keep working on a slow connection once the page has loaded.
- No signup. There are no accounts, email walls or usage limits.
- No uploads. Images and files are processed in your browser's memory and saved straight back to your device.
- Clear explanations. Each tool page explains the formula or method it uses, with worked examples, so you can check the answer yourself.
How we keep results accurate
Each calculator uses a standard, published formula, such as the reducing-balance EMI formula for loans or the Mifflin–St Jeor equation for calorie needs. The calculation code is kept separate from the page code and is covered by automated tests that check the results against known values. Tax slabs and other figures that change over time are stored in one place, reviewed regularly and dated on the page.

How the site is funded
ToolNook is free because it is supported by advertising from Google AdSense. Ads are clearly labeled and kept away from the tools themselves, so they never sit between you and your result. You can read how advertising cookies work, and how to opt out of personalized ads, in our privacy policy.
